Multifocal contact lenses are designed to correct vision changes that occur with presbyopia. You may already be familiar with this term, but essentially presbyopia is the correct term used to define a perfectly normal change within our vision which changes our ability to focus on near objects. It’s frustratingly normal but leads to the need for multiple different prescriptions. Multifocal contact lenses have been specifically designed to address this need for different prescriptions and maintain clarity in all aspects of vision.
Unlike bifocal or varifocal glasses, where it was necessary to look up and down to get the vision you need, multifocal contact lenses have near, distance and intermediate correcting areas in front of the pupil.
Multiifocal lenses are available in daily disposable, monthly, fortnightly (dependendent on brand) and RGP lenses.

With the advent of silicone hydrogel lenses, which are better at letting oxygen through the lens to your eyes, there are now also continuous wear contact lenses that can be worn up to 30 days straight.
